Fashion Trend: Colour Blocking- Local is lekker

Colour Blocking has to be the coolest trend of 2012. The combinations of bright, bold colours make for a fun, flirty wardrobe. The trend which burst into the catwalk scenes in spring/summer 2011 continues in 2012 with a bang.

I just love playing around with different colour fabrics and styles . I love Colour Blocking as there are no rules with this trend. However, this trend is quite tricky so keep it simple as you do not want to end up looking like a fashion disaster. My advice is to stick to colours which compliments your skin tone and that you are comfortable with. Remember opposite colours attract eg pink and green, orange and yellow, blue and purple. Adding brightly coloured accessories are complimentary to any colour blocking outfit.

My beautiful home City Of Durban, which has a vibrant crossroads of culture and people seemed to be directly on par with this international trend. From your local street stall to creative graffiti artists to your colouful rickshaws, you can easily find inspiration at every corner.

As my sister and I waked along Durbans Golden Mile, colourful beaded accessories, elaborate headgear and rickshaws which are reflective of strong Indian and African influences were the order of the day.

The colour blocking trend is one of my favourites at the moment so I decided to share some of my personal images with you (pictured below).
