The only thing to get your feet tapping and put a smile on your face after a long day at campus, work or just sitting in traffic is tuning into 5FM’s Ultimix featuring DJ Dino Bravo burning up the airwaves with his mixes.
The Angolan born DJ, who moved to SA many years ago is able to collaborate songs from different genre’s and styles into his DJ set. I recently caught up with Dino at one of the events where he shared his passion for his music and mixes.
Q: What is it like being one of SA’s favourite DJ’s?
A: I don’t think I am SA’s favourite dj yet, I am headed in that direction. It is my dream to become thee No. 1 DJ in the country someday.
Q: What inspires you?
A: I get inspired by life in general.My family and people who work hard inspire me. If I see someone that comes from nothing into becoming something in life, that inspires me to get going and to become a better person.
Q: What message do you have for aspiring DJ’s?
A: Very simple. Don’t Imitate, CREATE!!!
Q: DJ’s lead quite a demanding lifestyle. How do you manage to balance your family life and being on tour all the time?
A: I am a single man, I do have a son. Being a single man does make it easy for me to travel,be on tour and then head on home. I don’t know if I would be able to do this if I was in a relationship. I am used to not having a life of my own as it is work, work,work and no play. But I guess you never know,someday.
Q: Do you get the same thrill from your audience as when you first started in the dj scene?
A: Every gig that I do, every party that I play for is like my first one,always!!! I love it!!!
Q: Any message for your fans out there,as you do have many,even if you may not think so.
A: No, I do believe I have a lot of fans out there.The only message from me to them is if you work hard and believe, you can do it. Just don’t give up.
